Max grew up Laguna Beach, California. It should automatically mean that he's nothing more than a spoiled brat, but he's anything but. His father made sure that all of his children had normal lives, and they still had to work for a lot of the things they got, even though Max Sr. doted on his children like any father who wanted the best for his children would.
He spent the first two years of his life as an only child, and life was great, but then his mother had another child and his world was turned upside down. Not only was she fussier, and demanded more attention, but she was just the first in a long line of women that would come into his life.
His other three sisters were born in quick succession after Miranda, and he settled in for the long haul of fighting off male suitors with a stick. He's always been extremely protective of his sisters, because they're a pretty attractive family, and he's a guy, so he knows how guys think, and he wants to keep his sisters away from horndogs.
Max was the popular guy in high school, but not because of the standard reasons of being rich, and good looking, and captain of the soccer team. He was popular, because he was nice, which was pretty much a novelty when it came to people that ran with the popular crowd. He always said hi to everyone in the hallway, and ate lunch with people that weren't in his "clique", and because of this, he was voted Mr. Congeniality for one of the Senior superlatives.
When it came to high school graduation, he had to take pause, because he had absolutely no idea what he wanted to do with his life. He had a consistent 3.8 GPA in high school, but he had no idea what he wanted to do with his life. He took a year off of school to travel around, though he mostly stayed in Italy with his father's side of the family.
He finally applied to Westbrook, and wound up going there in the fall of the following year, only a semester behind everyone else. He decided pretty early on that he wanted to do photography, but his adviser convinced him to go into Journalism for a major, which is what he's stuck with ever since.
It always annoys Miranda that he was the "golden child", because he never screwed up (that his parents heard about), and the same continued into his college years, and he found his way back into the spot of Captain in the soccer team.
He's the President of Sigma Chi, which he pledged almost as soon as he got to Westbrook, and the fact that he was a legacy definitely helped his cause.
Because he's part Italian, and a di Stefano, he's well versed in the art of flirtation, which he uses to his advantage with his female friends.
His favorite movies of all time are Empire Records, and now Iron Man. If he could have any say, he'd change his name to Anthony Stark, and marry someone named Pepper Potts. Of course, that would also mean that he'd have to be a mathematical genius, but to him, that's just a minor technicality.
He drives a Prius, and not because he wants to be trendy. He actually does care about the environment, but if asked, he'll most likely make up something like it was the only option when he went to trade in his Camry.
( I've got the gift of one liners, and you've got the curse of curves. )
